Bob: This is a literal song about the Mystery of Dyatlov Pass – was it an accident, a slip avalanche, getting lost at night, a military test gone awry, confusion after hearing strange noises, or some other mysterious thing or act of infamy?
Touanda: I was reading and watching some videos about Dyatlov, what a fascinating story. So based on what I read and the ideas Bob sent me, I finished the lyrics for the next song. I think the group was supposed to send a message when they were back in safety, but never did, so that inspired the first verse. The second verse (after the chorus) is based on the theories people have, one of them being that the reason some of them had no clothes on when they found them was that hypothermia gave the trekkers a sensation that their bodies were burning... anyway, many of you know the story better than me, so I'm sure you'll understand what the lyrics are supposed to mean.”
Note - Bob plays a hand-made baritone electric guitar built by his brother, Dan. More songs on that baritone electric to come!
lyrics
I left you guessing
Without a vestige
Of what went on
I said
I would message
But I had a presage
I wouldn’t make it to dawn
It was never the plan
To be a well-known man
But suddenly I have become…
Some say conspiracy
Frozen in history
Its still a mystery, for you to solve
An act of infamy
An open inquiry
No one knows
Dyatlov
The weather turning
The cold was burning
The sky was aglow
It was night
Yet the light was blinding
The snow was sliding
There was nowhere to go
It was not my intention
To get your attention
Now look at what I have turned into…
Some say conspiracy
Frozen in history
Its still a mystery, for you to solve
An act of infamy
An open inquiry
No one knows
Dyatlov

A solid debut from a promising band, Golden Head is one hell of a first statement. My favourite pick would be Morrigan, the track truly highlights everything Sol Ether has to offer. Deeply mystical work that resonates on a subconscious level, appealing to instincts and fears rather than betting on shock value. And those vocals - it’s pure primal rage
